ArmInfo. The accusations brought against former Armenian Defense Minister Mikayel Harutyunyan have been re-qualified.
As reported by the press service of the Special Investigation Service of Armenia, at present, Harutyunyan is charged with acts under Part 3 of Art. 309 of the RA Criminal Code, instead of the previous article 300.1 of the RA Criminal Code.
To note, ex-Defense Minister Mikayel Harutyunyan was previously accused of overthrowing the constitutional order within the framework of a criminal case on the events of March 1, 2008. Harurtyunyan was detained in absentia and put on the international wanted list. During the investigation, it turned out that
Harutyunyan is a citizen of Russia and is now in the territory of the Russian Federation. The Russian side refused to extradite Harutyunyan to Armenia.
It is also worth noting that the Constitutional Court in March of this year recognized Article 300. 1 of the RA Criminal Code as contradicting the Constitution and invalid, according to which, within the framework of the criminal case on the events of March 1, 2008, charges were brought against the second President of Armenia Robert Kocharian and his subordinates - Yuri Khachaturov, Seyran Ohanyan and Mikael Harutyunyan.
