ArmInfo. Both before the war and after the war, Armenia's external security system did not undergo any changes. This was stated by the acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on May 3 at a special session of the parliament, speaking about the security system of Armenia as a whole.
At the same time, he recalled that this system was primarily based on the Armenian-Russian joint grouping, on the basis of an agreement on the creation of a unified air defense system in the Caucasian region of collective security. Pashinyan also added that he has repeatedly said that all those people who are trying to imagine that a number of decisions made have created new challenges in terms of security in Syunik region simply do not deeply assess the situation.
"In fact, the opposite happened, since the protection of all borders of Armenia, however, like before the war, is carried out by the forces and efforts of the united group. But this does not mean at all that there should be joint posts at all combat positions," he said, once again recalling the existence of the relevant agreement.
Speaking about the deployment of the troops of the 102nd base in the Syunik region of Armenia, Pashinyan stressed that it is not a secret for anyone that 2 new Russian military base strong points have been established there. "The deployment of these two strongholds is an additional guarantee of ensuring the security of the Syunik region and Armenia as a whole," he stressed, reminding once again that the borders of Armenia are determined by the 2010 law of the RA National Assembly on administrative division. At the same time, he expressed bewilderment that some people in the parliamentary hall express indignation and ask why Azerbaijan borders with Shurnukh, and they themselves are making efforts to enter the proportional list of people who have outlined the boundaries in the form they exist today.
"A very important question is being raised - to capitalize the results of the revolution in the negotiation process on Karabakh. And how was this possible? There were many misconceptions - for example, those who are constructive in the negotiations are not subjected to pressure, and vice versa, there is serious pressure in connection with the destructive position." , - said Pashinyan. As an example, he cited Azerbaijan's refusal to sign the Kazan document in 2011, and then began to consistently aggravate the situation in the conflict zone, which resulted in a 4-day April 2016 escalation.
The acting prime minister once again stressed that the logic of the negotiations had changed, and no pressure was exerted on Azerbaijan because of such aggressive rhetoric.
At the same time, he stressed that the 44-day war of 2020 "did not fall from the sky" and assured that this was a consequence of Artsakh's withdrawal from the negotiation process. As a reproach to the presidency of Robert Kocharian, he also cited the signing in 1999 in Istanbul of the Charter for European Security.
