ArmInfo.. As a result of the war, Artsakh lost 80% of its tourism potential. This was announced during the meeting of the Secretary General of the Tourism Committee of the Ministry of Economy of Armenia Mari Grigoryan, the head of the Tourism Federation Mekhak Apresyan and the director of the NGO "Tourism Development Agency" in Artsakh Sergey Shahverdyan.
In particular, during the discussions it was noted that today the Republic of Artsakh faces the task of creating a new tourist product and hiking routes.
As stated on the official Facebook page of the RA Tourism Committee, the Artsakh Ministry of Internal Affairs has developed a list of tourist places where tourists can feel completely safe. According to the source, at the initial stage, study visits to these territories are carried out, after which work will be carried out on their improvement, popularization and installation of road and information signs. Attaching importance to the need to reanimate the travel industry in Artsakh, the parties expressed their readiness to expand the framework of cooperation.
To note, according to the Statistical Committee of the Republic of Artsakh, 2,444 tourists visited Artsakh in 2020, which is 94.2% less than a year ago, of which the lion's share of 63.4% falls on tourists from Russia, 12.4% - from Iran, 4.2% - from the USA, 3.3% - from Ukraine, 2% - from France, 1.7% - from Georgia, etc.
In 2019, the Republic of Artsakh was visited by 41,963 tourists, with an increase of 46.7% per year.
