ArmInfo. The Ministry of Defense of Armenia does not plan the participation of the Armenian Armed Forces units in the NATO exercise Defender Europe 21. This is stated in the statement of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia.
"Despite the official explanation made earlier, in response to requests that continue to come from the media, we once again inform that the Ministry of Defense of Armenia does not plan the participation of units of the Armenian Armed Forces in the NATO exercise Defender Europe 21," the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia said in a statement.
DEFENDER Europe is an annual multinational joint exercise of NATO countries, conducted under the leadership of the United States. According to the official website of the US Army in Europe, the exercise is aimed at increasing strategic and operational readiness and interaction between the US, allies and NATO partners.
It should be noted that in May-June of this year, NATO will hold the largest exercise since the Cold War, Defender Europe – 2021, planned to work out defensive and offensive actions in Eastern Europe and the Baltic States. The North Atlantic Alliance invites Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine to participate in the exercises as partners.
