ArmInfo. Ambassador of Belarus to the RA Alexander Konyuk and diplomats of the embassy took part in the conference on "Independence and Sovereignty. Threats and Challenges for Modern Armenia".
This was reported by the press service of the Belarusian Embassy in Armenia, adding that the event was organized by the Research and Analytical Public Organization "Integration and Development", the Eurasian Expert Club and the Russian-Armenian University. The event was attended by the heads and diplomats of the diplomatic missions of Russia and Kazakhstan, experts and scientists from Armenian universities, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Leading Researcher of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Krylov. In his opening remarks, Konyuk drew analogies with the external influence on the internal political processes that took place in Armenia and Belarus. All speakers noted the importance of the creation and functioning of the EAEU and CSTO integration associations in the CIS space, contributing to their economic growth and maintaining an adequate level of security.
At the end of the conference, Konyuk gave an interview to the information resources of Armenia, in which he noted the focus of Belarus on the development of bilateral relations within the framework of integration associations.
At the same time, in a conversation with reporters, referring to the congratulations of the Belarusian leader to the President of Azerbaijan in connection with the events in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Konyuk assured that Alexander Lukashenko, being in Baku, congratulated Ilham Aliyev only on an end to bloodshed on both sides of the conflict. According to him, the President of Belarus congratulated his Azerbaijani counterpart not on the fact that someone lost, but another gained, but on the fact that the bloodshed stopped and that mothers will not lose their sons.
"I was in the war and saw what it was. I ask you to look at the position of the Belarusian side from this point of view, and there is no need to add anything, manipulate and somehow present this situation in a different way. Our president is a supporter of peace." - said the diplomat.
Referring to his appointment as ambassador to Armenia, Konyuk noted that President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko gave him a choice. "There were several countries, but I chose Armenia. I decided that because you are closer to me. We have no language problems, no barriers of any kind. I go to the center of Yerevan, buy dried fruits, and I have no problems. Not because I am from the embassy, but because you are our dear people, "the diplomat concluded.
