Viktor Yengibaryan: Azerbaijan`s attempts to harm Armenia`s interests  failed at Euronest

The Chairman of the Mejlis of Azerbaijan did not speak during the meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Eastern Partnership <Euronest>, which  suggests to us that the Azerbaijani side is not satisfied with the  work of the PA meeting. This was stated by the head of the Armenian  delegation of the PA <Euronest>during a press conference on April 26  Viktor Yengibaryan, presenting the results of Armenia's participation  in the meeting.

In this context, he said that all the anti-Armenian proposals voiced  by Azerbaijan were rejected. "Up to the energy sector, where the  Azerbaijani side tried to harm the interests of Armenia with its  vocabulary, but, to their deep regret, they failed," Yengibaryan  stressed.

In this context, Arman Yeghoyan, a member of the Euronest PA  delegation, said that according to tradition, the Azerbaijani  delegation raised the issue of Soviet nuclear power plants, referring  to the one operating in Armenia. However, as in previous cases, all  of Azerbaijan's proposals regarding caution and security issues,  including proposals to close nuclear power plants, have failed.

Speaking about Armenia's success during the meeting of the Euronest  PA Economic Commission, Taron Simonyan said that the Armenian side's  proposal on the synergy of the economic and educational spheres was  accepted. "This formula has a wide range of actions - more than 150  proposals, most of which were adopted," the parliamentarian said.

However, one of the main issues raised by the Armenian delegation,  according to its head, concerned Azerbaijan's failure to fulfill its  obligation under the signed trilateral statement on the return of  prisoners of war and other detained persons. "We have reached a broad  consensus - a number of European parliamentarians called on  Azerbaijan to fulfill its obligations and return all Armenian  prisoners," he said.
