ArmInfo. The Office of the Ombudsman monitors the situation in connection with the protest action in Yerevan.
Thus, the Armenian Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan issued a statement in which he called on everyone to show respect and exclude any escalation.
At the same time, Tatoyan stressed that the office headed by him continues to carry out all the steps provided for by the law to the full extent of the powers of the Human Rights Defender, in the conditions of the necessary cooperation with the police.
"I urge everyone to show respect and rule out any escalation. I wish good health to the police officer who became ill during the protest in front of the Prosecutor's office, " the Ombudsman said in a statement. It should be noted that a protest rally in defense of the detained residents of Syunik was held in Yerevan the night before. The action started at the monument to Aram Manukyan. Then the protesters moved to the building of the Prosecutor General's Office, where there was a scuffle between demonstrators and police. During the protest, 14 people were detained. During the clashes, one of the policemen became ill and was hospitalized.
