ArmInfo.On April 22, the Government of Armenia approved the proposal to sign Amendment No. 10 to the Agreement between Armenia and the United States aimed at developing more effective and accountable governance.
As stated in the background note to the document, as part of the amendment to the agreement signed on September 28, 2013, the United States will additionally allocate $12.9 million to Armenia, thus bringing the amount of funding to the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to $64,340,443. The amount of funding from the RA will also change - from $7.9 million to about $11 million, as well as the term of the agreement - from September 30, 2023 to September 30, 2025.
Additional funding will be directed to "Fair and democratic governance", in particular, in the areas of human rights, civil society, the formation of a competitive environment, etc. It is noted that the allocated funds will contribute to a more effective implementation of the rights and obligations of citizens, the use of mechanisms to protect these rights, strengthen the relationship between the state, the private sector, civil society and individual citizens.
