ArmInfo.Armenia does not plan to meet with the Azerbaijani side in the near future. The Spokesperson of the RA MFA Anna Naghdalyan stated this, answering the question whether a meeting with the Azerbaijani side is planned in the near future in the context of the statement of the Azerbaijani President about his readiness to sign agreements with Armenia on Karabakh.
"Moreover, the Armenophobic position and behavior of the leadership of Azerbaijan, to put it mildly, do not give grounds to expect constructiveness on the part of the Azerbaijani authorities in search of a way out of the situation resulting from the aggression unleashed against Artsakh. The vivid evidence of my words is the "park" opened in Baku dedicated to the Artsakh war, and the very organization of the exhibition with scenes insulting the memory of the fallen Armenian soldiers, "she said.
According to her, all this, as well as Azerbaijan's speculation on the issue of prisoners of war, prove how far the Azerbaijani leadership is from its declarative statements about the post-war situation, regional peace and reconciliation.
"The President of Azerbaijan continues to make contradictory statements. On the one hand, he presents to his own audience the thesis that the conflict is resolved. On the other hand, at an event organized for an international audience, he spoke about the signing of a peace agreement and the unresolved issues of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," Naghdalyan said, while noting that for the signing of a peace treaty, first of all, a peace process is needed, which stopped after the use of force by Azerbaijan.
Referring to Aliyev's claims to the Armenian Zangezur, the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman called it ridiculous that territorial claims to the Republic of Armenia and the Armenian people are being made by the country's leader, whose name even in the South Caucasus has only a century-old history, both from a political and even geographic point of view.
"We understand that the process of forming a new identity has been going on in Azerbaijan for the last hundred years, but we consider it necessary to emphasize once again that history is not Azerbaijan's strong point. Such provocative statements undermine efforts to establish stability in the region, which poses a threat to all states in the region, "Naghdalyan concluded.
