ArmInfo. The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry took hard the criticism of the French Ambassador to Armenia Jonathan Lakota regarding the "trophy park" opened in Baku, dedicated to the last war in Karabakh.
After much deliberation, the head of the press service department of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, Leyla Abdullayeva, could not find anything to say other than, " the official representative of the country, which has been acting as a mediator for many years, should take a more responsible approach to comments."
Then, Abdullayeva, instead of drawing conclusions from what the ambassador said, suddenly decided to remind Lakota about the history of France, forgetting that the agenda is not the French - Azerbaijani relations or the history of the French people, but the fighting in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone. The representative of the Armenian Foreign Ministry failed to find a worthy justification for the barbaric behavior of her country and did not catch the essence of the words said by the ambassador that "Armenia is worthy in its defeat", started an old song about the "30-year occupation", while forgetting that the Azerbaijani authorities and their destructive, non-tolerant position towards the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh and their cultural and religious values are the original aggressor and the root cause of the Karabakh crisis.
"An official from a country that has been acting as a mediator for many years should take a more responsible approach to comments," the official representative of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry concluded.
Earlier, French Ambassador to Armenia Jonathan Lacote touched upon the opening of the The head of the "trophy park", dedicated to the last Artsakh war, noted that he fully understands and shares the emotions in the Armenian society associated with the opening of the so-called park. "I recently visited the Yerablur military cemetery. We see how many dead, how many losses. We see the suffering of families, but it is also a place of dignity. War is not a subject for staging a play, " Lakot said. At the same time, he expressed his conviction that the priority now is to find a solution to the conflict, the priority is the return of prisoners in accordance with International humanitarian law and the statement of November 9, the return of displaced persons, the protection of cultural and religious heritage, as well as the resumption of a constructive dialogue to find a long-term peace.
"Armenia is worthy in its defeat. One must be worthy even when having won, " the ambassador concluded.
