ArmInfo. The new authorities of Armenia inherited "the solution of the Karabakh issue in a dead-end, post-war and pre-war state," Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a parliamentary session on April 14.
In fact, according to him, the condition was consistently set for Armenia to cede "the security zone - regions, without any preconditions and determining the status of Artsakh." At the same time, Baku permanently stated that it would not accept the condition under which Artsakh would have any status-above the status of an autonomous region. Thus, as Pashinyan stressed, the war of 2020 could have been avoided if Yerevan had made such concessions.
The impasse of the situation, as Pashinyan pointed out, was recognized by Serzh Sargsyan in the Armenian parliament in 2017. "In fact, already in 2017, in the negotiation process, Armenia came to its red line, and even crossed it," he said, again referring to the words of Serzh Sargsyan that Armenia was repeatedly close to resolving the conflict, but Azerbaijan did not agree "in anticipation of big concessions."
As Pashinyan noted, while the Armenian authorities convinced the Armenian society that the international community was "putting pressure on Baku" in order to bring its opponent into a constructive field, in fact, since 2011, at a time when Azerbaijan began to interact unconstructively, Yerevan was faced with a condition - to make additional concessions in order to return Baku to a constructive field.
