ArmInfo.Armenian Health Minister Anahit Avanesyan denied ArmInfo's information that the Armenian side rejected the Russian Federation's proposal to launch the production of an anti-covid vaccine in the country. She said this during a press conference on April 12
. < Armenia did not give up anything. Our colleagues are negotiating with the Ministry of Economy for the organization of production. But we understand that this should be in the presence of professional and industrial potential, and appropriate infrastructure, " the Minister said.
At the same time, Anahit Avanesyan expressed hope that the pharmaceutical companies of Armenia, realizing the importance of the vaccination process in the country, will show interest in opening joint ventures and make investments.
Recall that as previously reported by ArmInfo, within the framework of the EEU, the Russian side proposed to Armenia to create a joint venture for the production of <Sputnik V>. Moreover, the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) is ready to finance this project. This proposal was also voiced by the official representative of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Iya Malkina. The information was confirmed directly by the Department of Industrial Policy of the EEC, noting that the Armenian side did not officially respond to the proposal, only stating that the country is allegedly unable to establish such production due to the lack of production capabilities and necessary competencies.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health itself then reported that they do not share the opinion that Armenia is not able to launch the production of Sputnik V.
It should be noted that Armenia has already imported 24 thousand doses of the British-Swedish AstraZeneca vaccine and 15 thousand doses of the Russian <Sputnik V>. Soon, as the head of the health department noted, deliveries of the Novavax vaccine of American production are expected, and there are also agreements with the Chinese side. The vaccination process, according to the minister, will begin in Yerevan on April 13, in the regions-on April 14. In particular, for the drug AstraZeneca, due to the results of various studies, age restrictions will be applied - citizens over the age of 55 will be vaccinated with a British-Swedish injection.
