ArmInfo. During the video talks, Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazyan and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Armida Salsia Alisjabana expressed satisfaction with the close cooperation established between the Commission and Yerevan, confirming their mutual readiness to ensure the continuity of the implementation of programs and initiatives at the level of various departments.
In the context of the discussion of the programs implemented by the Commission for the Expansion of interregional Cooperation, Ayvazyan stressed that Armenia, as a landlocked country, has always been from the position of strengthening regional cooperation and interconnection based on the full implementation of the principle of engagement. Among other issues, preparations for the upcoming 77th session of the Commission were also discussed. Ara Ayvazyan and Armida Salsia Alisakhbanan also exchanged views on international efforts to overcome COVID-19 and steps towards a sustainable recovery after the epidemic. Ayvazyan drew the interlocutor's attention to the fact that Azerbaijan and Turkey, ignoring the UN Secretary General's call for a global ceasefire during the epidemic, unleashed a large-scale aggression against Artsakh, as a result of which the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh faced urgent humanitarian and socio-economic problems. The importance of direct involvement of international organizations on the ground and the need for practical measures were highlighted.
