ArmInfo. Today, on April 1, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will have separate meetings with the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan, Ara Aivazian and Jeyhun Bayramov. On April 1, during a weekly briefing, this was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, recalling that the meetings will be held on the sidelines of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers.
"During separate conversations, it is planned to discuss issues of bilateral cooperation, of course the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, the implementation of the agreements reached by the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia on November 9, 2020 and January 11 of this year. It is planned to consider a number of regional and international topics," Zakharova said, once again stressing that the meetings will be separate.
Speaking about the agenda of the CIS Ministerial Council meeting, the representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that the ministers plan to exchange views on topical issues of the international agenda and interaction in the CIS format. However, she added that the main event is scheduled to be held tomorrow, April 2.
Note that, according to an official statement from the Commonwealth's press service, on April 2, 2021, a meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States will be held in Moscow under the chairmanship of the Republic of Belarus. For the first time since October 2019, the meeting will be held in person.
It is planned that the foreign ministers will exchange views on topical issues of the international agenda and interaction in the CIS format, discuss the progress of the implementation of the Action Program to enhance partnership between the foreign affairs agencies of the CIS member states and the implementation of the Plan of multi-level inter-ministerial consultations within the framework of the Commonwealth in 2020.
In addition, the ministers will preliminarily agree on the documents that will be submitted for consideration by the Council of CIS Heads of State. This is, first of all, the draft Address of the Heads of State to the peoples of the Commonwealth countries and the world community in connection with the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
Two documents, the drafts of which are submitted for approval by the Ministerial Council, will subsequently be sent to the Council of Heads of Government for consideration. They relate to cooperation in the field of geodesy, cartography, cadastre and remote sensing of the Earth and the creation of a basic organization in the field of operational and strategic training of officers of the armed forces. It is expected that the meeting will approve medium-term action plans for the implementation of strategies in force in the Commonwealth - the development of cooperation in the field of physical culture and sports, international youth cooperation, as well as in the field of tourism.
