ArmInfo. RUSAL, one of the world's largest aluminum producers, invested more than $ 1 billion in environmental projects between 2011 and 2020.
Thanks to the environmental measures and initiatives consistently implemented by RUSAL, over the past 10 years, the company's emissions have been reduced by almost 20%, industrial wastewater discharges have been reduced by more than half, while fresh water consumption has been reduced by a third. <The results that RUSAL has achieved in improving the environmental profile of its enterprises over the past 10 years are truly worthy. This was made possible by a comprehensive program that the company implements to reduce the impact of its production on the environment, including developing and implementing its own know-how. This approach is an integral part of the company's strategy, and, of course, we will continue to develop in this direction, " said Ivan Rebrik, Director of the Department of Ecology, Labor Protection and Industrial Safety of RUSAL.
Yerevan ARMENAL has also made significant progress in the field of environmental protection. Over the past decade, the plant has invested up to $ 8 million in projects aimed at protecting the environment. The highly environmentally friendly AirPure ("Clean Air") plant has been put into operation, which repeatedly reduces the emissions of spent coolant vapors into the atmosphere. The complex of new high-efficiency cooling towers has reduced the water consumption of the enterprise by about 10 times. ARMENAL strictly complies with all environmental requirements and regulations of the Republic of Armenia. Currently, preparations are underway for the implementation of a land reclamation project on the territory of the former electrolysis production of the Kanaker Aluminum Plant.
