ArmInfo. Our political force is preparing to take an independent part in the early parliamentary elections scheduled for June 20 in the country. Such opinion was expressed by the chairman of the Republic party, former Prime Minister of Armenia Aram Sargsyan.
"At the same time, we do not exclude that in the case of our passage to the parliament after the completion of its formation, we will go to the creation of a ruling coalition with other elected and past political forces," he stressed.
Commenting on the recent domestic political events in the republic, the politician highlighted the recent meeting of the former Presidents of Armenia and Artsakh. Sargsyan did not rule out that the main motivator of the meeting was the need to discuss the urgent and emerging foreign and domestic political problems related to the country as a whole and statehood in particular.
In this light, the politician emphasized the need for the ex-presidents to no longer limit themselves to voicing the demands for the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan following the results of this meeting. Demands, according to him, devoid of logical continuation. "I would very much like these demands to be accompanied by a justification - a clear vision of how Pashinyan's departure can contribute to solving certain problems of the country," he stressed.
In this context, Sargsyan highlighted the issue of Armenia's implementation or rejection of the November 9 trilateral statement. In his opinion, Pashinyan's resignation should be considered from this point of view, simultaneously analyzing possible options for the development of the situation in both cases. In this light, the politician stressed that the statement of November 9 in fact does not work, which may well lead to the resumption of hostilities.
"Thus, Pashinyan's resignation should not be an end in itself. First, it is necessary to calculate what his departure can give our country in the current realities. For example, I recently met with the Prime Minister and made some proposals to him. The prevention of a new war involves the exclusion of a dry, direct refusal to certain proposals within the framework of the documents of November 9 and January 11. And I think that Armenia can fully implement the proposals to unblock the region. For example, by demanding the resumption of cargo transportation and the operation of the railway as the first step in the implementation of this process," Sargsyan concluded.
