ArmInfo. Despite the refusal of a number of European countries from the Swedish-British anti-cancer vaccine produced by AstraZeneca, Armenia imported the first batch of the drug in the amount of 24 thousand doses.
According to the Ministry of Health of Armenia, vaccination in the country will be carried out on a voluntary basis and is intended for citizens who are at risk, in particular medical staff, citizens over 65 years old, as well as citizens from 16 to 64 years old with chronic diseases, employees of care centers for the elderly, and their wards.
Recall that a number of EU countries refused to supply the AstraZeneca vaccine, or suspended the vaccination process of their citizens due to the registered consequences. It was reported that after the injection, the vaccinated citizens developed thromboembolic complications, in addition, deaths were reported.
In particular, the first to refuse the use of the drug was in Austria, where after vaccination, one woman died, and another was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism. Following Austria, vaccination was temporarily suspended in Denmark, Norway and Iceland, Estonia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Cyprus, Latvia, Italy, etc. At the same time, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) said that the drug is effective and safe in comparison with the theoretical danger.
It should be noted that 190,741 cases of coronavirus infection have been registered in Armenia since the outbreak of the pandemic, which is 22.6% of the total number of citizens who passed the test. At the same time, 172,096 people (90.2%) recovered, 3,476 (1.8%) died.
