Forecast: Geopolitics gives the recognition of the genocide by  America additional prospects

In particular, I note the fact  of changes in the overall strategy of the United States, the center  of which is gradually moving to the Pacific basin, giving China the  status of its most important target, " he stressed.

While maintaining its importance in the eyes of the State Department  against this background, the Middle East, according to the  academician's forecasts, will gradually give way in favor of the  Pacific basin. In this light, according to Safrastyan, Turkey's  importance as an important regional Middle Eastern player is also  expected to decline. Such geopolitical trends, in his opinion, are  reinforced by the negative approach of the American elite towards  Ankara, due to Erdogan's intransigence in relations with Moscow.

"The same behavior of Turkey regarding  the issue of purchase of  S-400 complexes from Russia makes Washington want to punish Ankara  for refusing to compare its own interests with the interests of its  main NATO ally. However, it should also be noted that Turkey  continues to fulfill all its obligations under NATO membership, while  remaining an integral part of the West. The overall picture is  complemented by certain messages from the White House in favor of the  final recognition of the genocide by the United States, " he  stressed.

The latter, according to Safrastyan, are also the result of problems  in relations between the United States and Turkey. Thus, the Biden  administration's tougher stance on Ankara compared to Trump's  position gives the American president's recognition of the Armenian  Genocide additional prospects. Especially in the light of the already  accomplished fact of the recognition of the genocide by the US  Congress. In general, the recognition of the genocide by the US  president, according to the academician's forecasts, will be an  important circumstance and an incentive in the process of  international recognition of the genocide as a whole.
