ArmInfo. We strongly condemn the next act of cultural heritage crime on the part of Azerbaijan in the territories already beyond the control of Artsakh. This is stated in the statement of the Armenian National Commission for UNESCO.
"We strongly condemn another act of cultural crime on the part of Azerbaijan. According to the BBC, the Armenian church was completely destroyed after it came under the control of Azerbaijanis. The same church was vandalized during the recent aggression. The Armenian monuments of Artsakh, which came under the occupation of Azerbaijan, became subject of vandalism and ISIS-style destruction. The disappeared Armenian church became the first victim of an act of vandalism, " reads the statement of the Armenia's National Commission for UNESCO on Twitter.
Earlier, a report was published by BBC correspondent Jonah Fisher, who decided to find out where the Armenian church Zoravar Surb Astvatsatsin disappeared in the Karabakh village of Mekhakavan (Jebrail). Thus, the report shows that the church did not suffer when the territory came under the control of Azerbaijan. However, in reality today only ruins remain on the site where the church stood. An adequate answer to the question of where the church is was not given by Azerbaijan. The video can be viewed at the following link: (https://www.bbc.com/news/av/world-europe- 56517835?
