As he told on March 17 in Yerevan, HE the Ambassador of France in  Armenia Jonathan Lacote, this year the days of Francophones start  March 20 and will last until 13 April inclusive.

He recalled that he had already passed 3.5 years after Armenia  accepted the 16th summit of the International Organization of  Francophony. "We all understand that Armenia in the last period  collided with serious challenges and passes through serious tests.   But we also understand that it is necessary to continue to celebrate  the days of the Francophony. Armenia has been conducting events  within the framework of Francophone for 10 years," the ambassador  said, recalling the fact that French is one of the few languages  spoken at all 5 continents. At the same time, Lacote stressed that  French is one of the most studied worldwide and more and more people  communicate today.

Armenia in this matter is no exception, continued a diplomat,  expressing gratitude to the Armenian authorities for efforts to  popularize in the country of French.

The diplomat stressed that French University of Armenia (UFAR) and  the French School named after Anatole France are played an important  role in spreading French in RA. The ambassador added that in a number  of schools in Armenia there is an in-depth study of French, and  students already from the second class have the opportunity to teach  French. "We are also working on the opening of the French Institute  in the Aznavour House. We also consider the possibility of deepening  interaction with the Aznavour Foundation," the Ambassador said,  expressing the conviction that the Aznavour House was an excellent  cultural platform for this.

Touching on the events that will be held within the framework of the  Days of Francophone, Lacote stated that the Festival of French films  would be a key event, which will be held from April 6 to 13. "In the  framework of the film festival, 10 French films of various genres  with English and Russian Tiriram will be shown. The show will be at  the Moscow Cinema. The festival starts on April 6 with  the film  "Edmond"  byAlexy Mikhalki, said the Ambassador, adding that the  photo exhibition will also be held - From March 23 to April 8, the  concerts of French music on March 24 and 31 and a number of other  events, with a full list of which can be found on the site of the  French Embassy in Armenia.

Lacote also stressed that from year to year the circle expands with  which the embassy interacts for the Days of Francophone, and this  year the list has been replenished with the company from the economic  sector. According to him, this year the embassy in carrying out  activities is assisted by Amundi-ACBA Asset Management.
