ArmInfo. The first President of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan presented his vision of overcoming the crisis in which the republic finds itself today.
For example, Ter-Petrosyan, in his statement on the iLur.am website, stated that today the opposition candidate for Prime Minister of Armenia from the Movement to Save the Motherland, Vazgen Manukyan, presented three ways out of the situation: a military coup ; removal of power through popular pressure organized by the Movement; inadmissibility of the organization of early elections by the incumbent Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
At the same time, the first president of Armenia that Manukyan absolutely believes not take into account the unconstitutionality of the first option. According to him, the army is well aware of this, despite the pressure of the opposition, resolutely rejected this option.
Ter-Petrosyan was also skeptical about the possibilities of the Movement, stating that it had already sunk into oblivion, since time had shown that it did not enjoy the support of wide public circles and had completely exhausted itself.
At the same time, the First President agreed with Manukyan on the third option. "Why? Because the prime minister and the political force behind him, in addition to trying to avoid responsibility for the shameful loss in the war, are guided not by concern about strengthening and strengthening the state, but solely by an undisguised delusion of maintaining their own power at any cost. I also agree with the statements, that if the current authorities organize elections, they will not hesitate to use the administrative resource, which can lead to hotbeds of tension at all polling stations, "wrote Ter-Petrosyan, expressing his conviction that these will be the most shameful elections in the history of Armenia.
Based on the above, the only way proceeding from the interests of the Prime Minister, in the opinion of the first President of the Republic of Armenia, is his immediate and voluntary resignation, and with legal guarantees of security from the parliament and his at least temporary residence abroad. "In this case, the duties of the prime minister should be entrusted to a non-partisan deputy prime minister who, with his neutrality, will be able to ensure the holding of fair elections," Ter-Petrosyan concluded.
