ArmInfo. To save the situation in Armenia, it is necessary to organize and hold early parliamentary elections as soon as possible. Chairman of the "Prosperous Armenia" party Gagik Tsarukyan stated this in an interview to the Armenian media.
He once again recalled the difficult situation in which the country found itself due to the coronavirus pandemic and the economic crisis as a result of this, the war in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone and its negative consequences: starting with a large number of victims and wounded, missing, tens of thousands of Karabakh people who lost their homes.
"The population of Syunik sees armed Azerbaijani soldiers. Residents of the region are worried about their safety. It is necessary to solve the problems of people as soon as possible. Today, there are more than 1 million 700 thousand borrowers in Armenia, it is necessary to provide assistance to these people who find themselves in a difficult situation due to the economic crisis and increased unemployment. Today's authorities declare that power belongs to the people. If this is so, then it is necessary to take immediate action to rescue their citizens who are drowning in the swamp, "said Tsarukyan. Touching upon the issue of holding early parliamentary elections and the issue of possible behind-the-scenes meetings with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Tsarukyan noted that he knows who is disseminating such messages and what purpose they are pursuing. "If I met with Pashinyan, everyone would know about this, the relevant information would be disseminated," the PAP leader assured. Speaking about the parliamentary elections, Tsarukyan said that the sooner the new government, the new government is formed, the sooner the crisis and population outflow will be stopped, steps will be taken to restore the economy. When asked if he imagines holding early parliamentary elections under the premiership of Nikol Pashinyan, Tsarukyan replied that Pashinyan should resign, after which early parliamentary elections should be held. When asked to assess the effectiveness of the activities of the Movement to Save the Motherland, Tsarukyan noted that despite the fact that all the forces taking the initiative have different opinions and positions, in general there is a common denominator on each issue and a single position is expressed. When He considers that the main achievement of the movement is the fact that the issue of holding early elections is being discussed. At the same time, the head of "Prosperous Armenia" stressed that it is impossible to allow the division of people into "white" and "black", "friends and foes", "present" and "past". He also said that the PAP will not nominate its candidate, since it does not have the required number of votes, noting that their 30% percent is not enough to promote its candidate, but the ruling My Step has such potential.Tsarukyan also considers the criminal case concerning his election bribes politicized.
He noted that the charges were brought against him after he announced last summer about the need for radical steps to overcome their economic crisis, expressing his conviction that the current authorities are not able to solve the pressing problems of Armenia. The head of the PAP also pointed to the need to further deepen relations with Russia, right up to the signing of a new bilateral document. When asked whether Gagik Tsarukyan is in dialogue with three former presidents of Armenia: Levon Ter-Petrosyan, Robert Kocharian and Serzh Sargsyan, the head of Prosperous Armenia gave a positive answer. "Of course, a dialogue is underway," the PAP leader said, adding that he also intends to meet with Nikol Pashinyan and he has already informed his colleagues from the Movement to Save the Motherland about this. <In the near future, this meeting will take place and everyone will know about everything. To get out of this situation, it is necessary to meet, ”Tsarukyan said.
In response to a question about what agenda will be during the meeting, Tsarukyan noted that his point of view has not changed, he continues to assert that Pashinyan should resign and early parliamentary elections should be held. <Day by day, the crisis deepens. If you do not hold the meeting as you imagine a way out of this situation. People are trying to fish in troubled waters, I'm not going to enter into a coalition with Nikol Pashinyan, ”he summed up.
