ArmInfo.Currently, the epidemiological situation in Armenia can be assessed as extremely tense. Head of the Department of nosocomial Infections of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the RA Ministry of Health Romella Abovyan stated this at a press conference on March 11.
According to her, over the past few days, there has been a sharp rise in cases of new COVID-19 diseases. According to data for the last two weeks, compared with the previous two weeks, 91% increase in new cases of coronavirus morbidity has been recorded in Armenia. The average incidence rate also increased, which increased from 1 to 1.3. This, according to the specialist, means that in the next 7 days, if no urgent measures are taken and vigilance to safety rules is not increased, 3,700 people may become infected in the country.
The situation, according to Romella Abovyan, is complicated by a sharp increase in the number of cases among children and youth. Thus, among children 3-5 years old, the incidence increased 1.17-fold, 6-17 years old - 1.42-fold, 6-8 years old - 3.3-fold.
She stated that a new medical institution had opened, which was redesigned for the treatment of patients with coronavirus. The issue of hospital beds is very acute, which is associated with an increase in the number of hospitalized patients. Hospitals are overloaded. In the last day alone, over 700 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded, which cannot but cause serious concern. If this continues in the future, then a situation similar to October 2020 will develop.
In order to counter the spread of the epidemic, the World Health Organization has proposed clear and concise measures of safety - wearing masks, washing hands frequently, and maintaining social distance. Maintaining these measures, as noted by the specialist will dramatically reduce the number of cases.
