ArmInfo.On March 8, the Russian Minister of Justice Rustam Badasyan met with his Japanese colleague Yoko Kamikawa. Rustam Badasyan takes part in the 14th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention (UNODC), which takes place in Kyoto (Japan) from March 5 to March 11.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, Rustam Badasyan thanked the Japanese side for the invitation to take part in the Congress, warm hospitality, noting that Armenia and Japan have a lot in common: ancient civilization, rich culture, innovative spirit. The Armenian minister highly appreciated the position of Japan on the UN Human Rights Council on the return of Armenian Prisoners of Secand, as well as for humanitarian aid in the amount of $ 3.6 million, provided by the Government of Japan Armenia to neutralize the consequences of the Artsakh war. Rustam Badasyan, concerning large-scale military aggression, unleashed against Azerbaijan against the people of Artsakh under the auspices of Turkey in September 2020, noted that during these 44 days the Armenian people witnessed gross violations of international conventions. "Currently, we are concerned about the issue of the return of Armenian prisoners of war. Azerbaijan refuses to extradite them, despite the cease-fire agreement. This is a gross violation of the Azerbaijan Azerbaijan on the convention of prisoners of war," the minister said.
Yoko Kamikawa, in turn, thanked the Armenian Minister for participating in the work of the Congress. She pointed out the effective cooperation with Armenia, expressing readiness to continue it. The Japanese minister expressed the hope that the Kyota Declaration approved by the Congress will be a guide for states to strengthen the rule of law, and assured that as a country presiding the Congress, Japan will continue to facilitate the rule of law.
The ministers then exchanged views, stressing that mutual contacts at a high level are a good basis for deepening bilateral cooperation.
