ArmInfo. The position of the Armenian army is conditioned by the intention of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan to throw responsibility for the defeat in the Artsakh war on the leadership of the country's Armed Forces (AF). A similar opinion was expressed by the head of the "Enlightened Armenia" faction (Lusavor Hayastan) Edmon Marukyan.
“What the former authorities did with Pashinyan, now he is trying to pull off with the army - to throw the blame on them for what happened. For this purpose, about 1000 criminal cases were initiated against the military, and now an investigation is underway to ultimately judge them on specific military episodes, ”he stressed. In this context, the leader of "Holy Armenia" asked why the investigation is not being conducted on the subject of who failed the negotiations, who these diplomats were, what the prime minister did to end the war, etc.
“If you lost, then everyone lost, and in this case, you have to go to rebuild the country. But, according to Pashinyan, it turned out that only the army lost. There are certain statesmen who began to say that Pashinyan was not to blame for what happened, and all the blame lies on the shoulders of our generals and the army, ”he said, noting that such accusations were“ fueled ”, which further exacerbated the situation, and forced the army take a similar step. In this regard, Marukyan noted that here we are talking not only about Chief of the General Staff Onik Gasparyan, but also 40 people who signed this statement.
If, according to the results of early parliamentary elections, Pashinyan remains in power, according to the parliamentarian, the leadership of the army will resign. “Pashinyan has lost mass support, and only elections will help to verify this. But it is obvious to me that he will not be able to receive this mandate again, ”Marukyan said. It turns out that the choice is between Pashinyan and the entire army.
At the same time, speaking about the political realities taking place today, he stressed that if a solution is not found within days, but hours, we will be able to lose Armenia as well. “What we are doing is leading the country to internal clashes, which can be used by the countries of the region, primarily our cars. And Armenia does not have the resources to overcome these shocks. We are in a deep social, economic and humanitarian crisis. Such steps marked the beginning of the end of our statehood, ”he assured. According to the deputy, both the authorities and the opposition, being guided exclusively by their own principles, are leading the country to destruction.
It should be reminded that on February 25 the General Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces demanded the resignation of the Prime Minister of Armenia, accusing the country's political leadership of "leading the state to a dangerous brink." The demand was announced after the dismissal of the first deputy chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Tiгran Khachatryan, because of his comments on Iskander.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan described the situation as an attempted coup, urging citizens to gather in Republic Square and defend the revolution. Pashinyan signed a decision on the resignation of Chief of the General Staff Onik Gasparyan, which the president has not yet signed. After that, a rally in support of Pashinyan took place on Republic Square. In parallel, a rally of opponents of the current government took place on Freedom Square. Similarly, practically in parallel, the authorities and the opposition will hold rallies today - March 1.
