ArmInfo. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has sent a congratulatory message to newly appointed
Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili on assuming the post of Prime Minister. As the press service of the PM informs, the message reads: "Excellency, I congratulate you on assuming the post of Prime Minister of Georgia and wish you every success in this important and responsible position for the benefit of Georgia and the Georgian people. The strong ties of friendship between Armenia and Georgia are underpinned by centuries old mutual contacts, deep respect and trust between our peoples. I am confident that our governments will continue to cooperate with a view to implementing joint programs to tap the full potential of Armenian-Georgian cooperation to the benefit of our two nations." To recall, the Georgian parliament on February 22 approved the composition of the new government headed by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and its government program. Garibashvili said on February 18 that if he takes office, he intends to restore order in the country in a short time. Garibashvili already headed the government in 2013-2015. The composition of the Georgian government was renewed by two ministers - Irakli Karseladze became the Minister of Infrastructure instead of Maya Tskitishvili, and the Defense Ministry, which until recently was headed by Garibashvili, will be headed by his deputy Juansher Burchuladze. Former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia announced last week that he was stepping down due to disagreements with team members over the opposition leader, the chairman of the United National Movement, Nika Melia, who was ordered to be arrested by the court for failing to pay bail. Gakharia said that he made an appropriate decision to de-escalate the situation in the country.
