ArmInfo. Armenia and Iraq signed an Agreement on mutual visa-free entry for persons with diplomatic and service passports, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding "on political consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Armenia and Iraq."
According to the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, the relevant documents were signed on February 22 in Baghdad during the Armenian-Iraqi inter-MFA political consultations chaired by RA Deputy Foreign Minister Artak Apitonyan and Iraqi First Deputy Foreign Minister Nizar Kheyrally. On the same day, Apitonyan met with the Chairman of the Armenian-Iraqi Intergovernmental Commission, Minister of Agriculture of Iraq, Mohammad al-Khafaji, with whom he discussed the activities of the joint intergovernmental commission, the prospects for the development of the Armenian-Iraqi trade and economic relations, as well as possible dates for the third meeting in Baghdad postponed for obvious reasons. The delegation led by Artak Apitonyan also met with the head of the Armenian-Iraqi inter-parliamentary friendship group Rehan Hann Ayub. During the meeting, the important role of parliamentary diplomacy in ensuring the natural development of the Armenian-Iraqi relations was indicated. Apitonyan thanked Ayub for the just statement made by the latter during the Artsakh war.
