The Investigation Department of the RA National Security Service continues the preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on cases of illegal acquisition, storage, transportation, sale of firearms, bullets, ammunition, explosive devices from the Republic of Artsakh to the territory of the Republic of Armenia.
As the press service of the NSS reports, as a result of effective investigative and other judicial actions taken by the preliminary investigation body, as well as parallel operational-search activities, the identity of a person who illegally acquired weapons and ammunition from the battlefield was revealed. There is sufficient evidence that the deputy head of the Kashatagh district police department A.B., after a trip to Jebrail, illegally acquired a box of ammunition and cartridges, accessories for cleaning weapons, 22 rifles, a grenade, and 45 units of firearms of the type <AK >. From September 27, 2020 to November of the same year, the indicated ammunition was illegally transported in parts and stored in the auxiliary buildings of the apartment of his friend S.G. in the village of Teg, Syunik region of Armenia, in order to later sell some of them. The other part was planned to be handed over to the state through individual citizens in order to receive incentives and rewards, allegedly for good explanatory work.
Moreover, as a result of large-scale investigative and other legal actions taken during the preliminary investigation, a sufficient amount of evidence was obtained that A.B. illegally sold two illegally acquired AK assault rifles to his friend S.B. for a certain amount. The latter, in turn, kept the weapon in the apartment of his actual residence, after which on November 3, 2020, he agreed with another person to sell it for $ 500-600 apiece.
A.B. was arrested for committing the above criminal acts on the basis of direct suspicion of a crime. The petition was sent to the court for detention as a measure of restraint.
In the criminal case, criminal-operational-search measures are taken to identify other possible weapons and ammunition, illegally exported from the battlefield to the territory of the Republic of Armenia, and to initiate criminal proceedings against all persons involved in it.
