ArmInfo.Robert Kocharian and Serzh Sargsyan are using their last bullets, trying to warm up the ardor of their supporters that is fading day by day. Political scientist Levon Shirinyan expressed this opinion to ArmInfo.
According to the political scientist, the political activity of recent days, all these interviews, statements and dubious revelations of the ex-presidents have no political weight. Thus, in his opinion, the ex-presidents today are trying to keep the political processes initiated by them afloat with one single goal - to keep the country in a state of instability.
The political scientist expressed his conviction in the absence of assistance and popular support for such intentions of Kocharian and Sargsyan. In an obvious impasse, moreover, in a political span, in his opinion, the "17" movement as a whole found itself. And the rally convened by the movement on February 20 is yet another futile attempt to break this deadlock.
"Today Serzh Sargsyan says that the question of surrendering seven districts was at all stages of the negotiation process. Lavrov's plan, of course, existed. But why did he start talking about it only now? These people have been deceiving us for years, misleading, distorting, including the realities of the negotiation process. And today he suddenly announces that he has transferred power to Karen Karapetyan, apparently forgetting that he is not a tsar or a sultan in order to transfer power by inheritance, "Shirinyan emphasized. In general, the political scientist is convinced of the need to ignore such statements by ex-presidents and thus prevent their appearance in political discourse. Instead, he sees the need to consolidate the nation around the process of building a state.
"Our country, with great difficulty, but gradually moves towards stability. And it is the consolidation of the nation that is a necessary condition for overcoming the current atmosphere of despondency and organization of the state as a single body. Consolidation in no way concerns the leaders of the former kleptocratic state. These people have violated the law and must suffer responsibility for this, "summed up Shirinyan.
