ArmInfo.The Armenian police identified the person who desecrated the monument to the victims of the Holocaust and the Armenian Genocide in Yerevan.
As reported by the RA Police press service, the act of vandalism was committed by a 36-year-old man on February 12. The latter, as a result of explanatory work, came to the police department and made a confession. A criminal case was initiated under the article "vandalism". The investigation is underway.
To remind, the monument was desecrated in Yerevan on the night of February 12. Alen Simonyan, a deputy from the ruling My Step bloc, reacted to the incident and severely condemned the act of vandalism. "This manifestation of vandalism is nothing more than a crime against universal human values. The incident must be thoroughly investigated, and the perpetrators must be held accountable in order to exclude and prevent the recurrence of such cases in the future. Such vicious phenomena are devoid of moral grounds and should not have a place in a society that has survived the genocide and is a champion of the fight against this crime, "Simonyan said.
