ArmInfo.. The OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs (Igor Popov - Russia, Stefan Visconti - France, Andrew Shofer - USA) held separate online talks with the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan Ara Ayvazyan and Jeyhun Bayramov.
As reported by the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office Andrzej Kasprzyk also participated in the negotiations. The interlocutors exchanged views on the prospects for resuming the peace process and resolving key issues of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement within the framework of the latter.
In this regard, Ayvazyan noted that the basis of the conflict is the right of the people of Artsakh to self- determination and security, and the consequences of the use of force cannot be considered as a way to resolve the conflict.
In this context, Ayvazyan reaffirmed the commitment of the Armenian side to continue efforts for a peaceful settlement under the auspices of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, which is the only format endowed with an international mandate to resolve the Karabakh conflict.
Ayvazyan and the co-chairs exchanged views on the solution of humanitarian issues, which were enshrined in the November 9 trilateral statement. The RA Foreign Minister emphasized the need for the immediate return of prisoners of war, hostages and other detainees, stressing the inadmissibility of Azerbaijan's destructive policy in this regard. Issues of a similar nature were discussed with the Azerbaijani minister.
