500 heavy truck drivers await road opening at Upper Lars checkpoint

ArmInfo.Movement on the Georgian Military Highway is prohibited for all types of vehicles. The ban came into force from 8:00pm on February 15, 2021 until  further notice. This was reported by the Russian Emergencies Ministry  for North Ossetia.

The source notes that such a decision was made in connection with the  worsening weather conditions on the territory of Georgia, the  impossibility of ensuring the safe passage of vehicles, as well as  taking into account the recommendations of the Georgian border  police. Currently, about 500 heavy truck drivers are awaiting the  opening of the road. For drivers, the Main Directorate of the  Emergency Ministry of Russia in the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania  will deploy a heating point, where they can not only warm up, drink  tea, but also charge mobile devices. In the area of the checkpoint,  psychologists of the Main Directorate of the Emergency Ministry of  Russia for North Ossetia-Alania are working, traffic police officers  are on duty, the crew is posted to respond to possible incidents.  Drivers are being informed about the situation on the Georgian  Military Highway.
