ArmInfo. Sweden is ready to do everything possible to support Armenia. Swedish Ambassador to Armenia Patrick Svensson stated this during a meeting with RA Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan.
During the meeting, the Swedish diplomat emphasized the importance of implementing joint programs in the field of medical education, exchange of experience, in particular, oncology, hematology, vaccination, radiation therapy, drug procurement, pediatrics and others.
The parties also discussed possible cooperation in such areas as reducing maternal mortality, improving reproductive health; strengthening rehabilitation services; and mechanisms to prevent antibiotic resistance. The Ambassador inquired about the workload of the healthcare system in Armenia in connection with the post-war situation and coronavirus, expressing the readiness of the Swedish side to provide Armenia with all possible assistance. On COVID-19 Vaccines, Patrick Svensson noted that Armenia and Sweden are in almost the same situation, since both states are at the stage of negotiations.
Anahit Avanesyan stressed that the health care system was able to cope with the problems and is now in a phase of stable recovery. "Thanks to our specialists, we were able to withstand the coronavirus. Our doctors did a heroic job. The next step in the fight against the virus will be the start of vaccination. We are now negotiating with various companies," the minister concluded.
