During a telephone conversation, Armenian and French Foreign Ministers Ara Ayvazyan and Jean-Yves Le Drian discussed a comprehensive discussion of issues related to regional stability and security, the humanitarian situation in Artsakh and steps taken to combat the challenges facing the Armenians of Artsakh.
As the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry told ArmInfo, in the context of humanitarian issues requiring an urgent solution, Ayvazyan pointed to the importance of the return of Armenian prisoners of war and civilians held hostage, stressing the unacceptability of creating obstacles in this process by Azerbaijan.
In this regard, Ara Ayvazyan thanked his French counterpart for constantly keeping this issue on the agenda.
The foreign ministers stressed the importance of resolving the Karabakh issue within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group and exchanged views on the next timetable of the co-chairs.
The heads of the foreign affairs agencies of Armenia and France also discussed issues on the bilateral agenda. The interlocutors highly appreciated the last visit to Armenia of the delegation of the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Baptiste Lemoine on behalf of French President Emmanuel Macron, made to discuss the prospects for cooperation in areas of mutual interest, the parties also exchanged views on further steps following the visit.
