ArmInfo. On the issue of prisoners of war, Moscow is working with both Azerbaijani and Armenian counterparts, including through the Russian peacekeeping contingent stationed in the conflict zone. This was stated during the weekly briefing by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry recalled that just the other day, with the mediation of the commander of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, Rustam Muradov, another exchange of prisoners of war took place.
"One Azerbaijani and five Armenians returned home. In general, we proceed from the assumption that the solution to this issue is the exchange according to the formula "all for all". You know about our position. Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Foreign Minister spoke about this, "she said. Touching upon the possibility of unblocking the transport routes from Martakert to Vardenis and from Martakert to Stepanakert through Askeran, Zakharova suggested that if the above routes are in the zone of responsibility of the Russian peacekeepers, then the RF Ministry of Defense will answer this question. She also recalled that in accordance with paragraphs six of the statement of the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia dated November 9, 2020, the connection between Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia is carried out through the Lachin corridor.
