ArmInfo. From March 17, Armenia will have a customs attache in Brussels, who will represent the interests of the country's customs sphere in the European Union and the World Customs Organization.
As reported by the press service of the RA State Revenue Committee, the term of office of the new attache, appointed by the decision of the Prime Minister, is 3 years, however, according to the charter, it can be extended for another year.
Suren Melik-Israelyan, head of the international cooperation department of the State Revenue Office of the Republic of Armenia, who was appointed attache, said that additional instructions were given to give a new impetus to the institution of customs clearance. To maintain a high rating of the customs service, it is planned to actively work with international organizations based in Brussels.
At the same time, the CGD indicates the importance of this position in the current situation, pointing out that close interaction with various international structures will allow the correct presentation of reforms in the customs sphere in Armenia and will contribute to the development of trade contacts.
It is also reported that within the framework of the activities of the customs attache at the EU and the World Customs Organization, in March, the activities of the Armenia-EU joint customs committee will start under the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA). Clear steps will be taken to improve the cross-border trade component of the Doing Business Index. The State Revenue Committee also expressed its readiness to more actively participate both in the trainings conducted by the World Customs Organization and in the process of accreditation.
