ArmInfo.On the initiative of the Russian side, the leader of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), the third President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan met with the Ambassador of Russia to our country Sergey Kopyrkin.
As reported by the RPA press service, during the meeting a wide range of issues related to the consequences of the war in Nagorno-Karabakh were discussed.
Sargsyan expressed gratitude to the Russian side for the consistent efforts of the leadership of the Russian Federation to comply with the ceasefire and the solution of humanitarian issues of the population of Nagorno-Karabakh. At the same time, he emphasized the importance of the continuation by the Russian Federation of its activities as a co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group on the final peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict on the basis of basic principles, including the principle of the right of peoples to self-determination.
In the context of the discussion of the current situation, the need for the return of prisoners of war and other persons held in Azerbaijan to Armenia, as well as the importance of carrying out effective search operations for the bodies of dead servicemen, was emphasized.
At the request of the ambassador, Sargsyan touched upon the internal political situation in the country, as well as the new geopolitical situation in the region.
Kopyrkin, in turn, presented the position of Russia and spoke about the efforts being made.
