ArmInfo. In the current situation, when there are a number of unresolved issues and the shock from the war has not yet passed, it is dangerous to hold early elections. The second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan stated this in an interview with the portals Hayeli.am, Politik.am and Yerevan.today.
The second president noted that the authorities do not understand all the problems and stubbornly continue to insist on holding early elections.
“If the elections are scheduled, I think the opposition should take part in them in order to prevent the reproduction of power. I myself will participate in the elections with my team and I am sure that we will win, ”Kocharian stressed.
He noted that, having united, the opposition hoped that the authorities would realize the horror of the situation and leave, but this did not happen. “On the contrary, the representatives of the authorities literally grabbed onto their seats and declare that they are not going to leave. As a result, you have to scrape them off the chairs. This behavior of the authorities showed all the squalor of the Armenian political elite, ”the second president of Armenia said.
Kocharyan stated that political activity in Armenia may increase this spring. According to the second president of Armenia, the authorities should be glad that the opposition has chosen a political method of struggle.
“Now only 200-300 people are extremely radical. But if the hope for a political change of power dies, then in the spring a huge wave of people will come out to fight the power, and the protests will be different in nature, they will be more persistent and demanding, ”Kocharyan stressed.
