ArmInfo.Minister of State for Tourism, French Nationals Abroad and Francophonie Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne stated that the issue of returning the Armenian prisoners to their homeland is being discussed with the Azerbaijani authorities. Lemoyne said this in an interview with journalists in Yerevan.
The Minister noted that at every opportunity, the issue of prisoners is raised. <We are discussing all issues with both sides. We understand how Armenian families feel not knowing where their children are now. But the International Committee of the Red Cross has a mandate to resolve this issue. They are now dealing with this issue>, - said Lemoyne.
He also stressed the need to fulfill the trilateral declaration on Karabakh. "Over the past period, relations between France and Armenia have strengthened. The President of France and the Prime Minister of Armenia constantly communicated by phone, the last conversation took place on January 6. I flew to Armenia just following this conversation. It is also very important for us to promote future programs in Armenia, "Lemoyne noted.
The latter also stated that France as a country co-chairing the OSCE Minsk Group considers the ceasefire statements of November 9 very important. <It is very important to observe this truce. We believe it is important to continue goodwill and speak with all parties to achieve reconciliation. We already have our own experience in this matter, for example, with Germany. As a result, we were able to achieve reconciliation. I think we should look for ways of reconciliation>, concluded Lemoyne.
