ArmInfo. The upcoming early elections in Armenia will be held under geopolitical sauce. In other words, the internal political field will once again be divided, but, this time already, at two main geopolitical poles. Leader of the Armenian Constructive Party, political scientist Andrias Ghukasyan expressed a similar opinion to ArmInfo.
He believes, that in the elections competition will unfold between supporters of maintaining strategic, allied relations with Russia, forces supporting the preservation of the existing security system of Armenia, forces ready to come to terms with current political realities and the parties opposing them - supporters of policies in the interests of Armenia. According to Ghukasyan the latter are trying to find other partners for Armenia that will be an alternative to Russia, that is, states through which the restoration process, including the military potential of Armenia, will become possible.
Thus, according to the head of the "constructivists", these parties will strive to completely change the geopolitical vector of Armenia. Among the supporters of maintaining the pro-Russian course, the politician singled out the forces included in the ruling My Step bloc. As well as their internal political opponents, represented by today's opposition "list of 17": the Republican Party of Armenia, "Prosperous Armenia", ARF "Dashnaktsutyun", etc.
According to Ghukasyan, the second pole of supporters of the alternative foreign policy of Armenia is now formed from the parties "Heritage", "National Self-Determination", the Constructive Party and some other forces. According to him, now the Constructive Party is in the process of consultations and active work on the concept of changing the geopolitical vector of the country. The latter, as Ghukasyan put it, will be presented to the attention of the electorate "as a counterbalance to the old assertion that only Russia can ensure Armenia's security.
