ArmInfo. On January 22, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan received newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Armenia Alexander Konyuk.
As reported by the press service of the RA government, the Prime Minister congratulated the Ambassador on the appointment and expressed confidence that his activities would contribute to further strengthening the Armenian-Belarusian relations. Nikol Pashinyan noted that Armenia seeks to develop political and economic cooperation with Belarus, both in bilateral and multilateral formats and is interested in mutually beneficial programs.
The Prime Minister, referring to the situation after the Artsakh war, pointed to the balanced position of Belarus. Nikol Pashinyan noted that the return of prisoners of war is a key priority for the Armenian side, as well as the preservation of the Armenian cultural and religious heritage in the territories under the control of Azerbaijan, and constant work is being carried out in this direction.
Alexander Konyuk noted that the peoples of Armenia and Belarus share many commonalities, there is close cooperation, a high level of political dialogue, and assured that during his tenure he will make every effort to further deepen the partnership. The Ambassador of Belarus stressed the importance of maintaining a stable regional situation, noting that Belarus is ready to support efforts in this direction.
The interlocutors exchanged views on the intensification of economic ties between the two countries, the prospects for joint initiatives in various fields, stressing the presence of great potential. In this regard, the Prime Minister noted the active work of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Affairs, intensive parliamentary cooperation.
The interlocutors also touched upon the opportunities offered by the unblocking of the economic and transport infrastructure in the region.
The Prime Minister asked to convey his greetings to President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko.
