ArmInfo. Today marks the hundredth anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Soviet and Armenian composer, People's Artist of the USSR Arno Babajanyan. Arno Harutyunovich Babajanyan was born on January 21 (according to his passport - January 22) 1921 in Yerevan, into a family of teachers.
In 1928. entered the group of gifted children at the Yerevan Conservatory. In 1938 he went to Moscow, where he was immediately enrolled in the last course at Gnesinka, and in 1940 he entered the Moscow State Conservatory in the class of Professor K.N. Igumnov. Arno Babajanyan is one of the brightest composers of the 20th century. For more than half a century, his songs, classical symphonies, quartets and rhapsodies have been performed by famous musicians in concert halls around the world. Poets Andrei Voznesensky, Leonid Derbenev, Yevgeny Yevtushenko, Robert Rozhdestvensky were honored to write poetry for his music. Among the performers of the academic music of Babajanyan: M. Rostropovich, E. Gilels, D. Oistrakh, L. Vlasenko, J. Ter-Merkerian, D. Khanjyan. Soviet pop stars stood in line for Arno Babadzhanyan's songs.
He wrote music for films, performed in concerts as a pianist. For the "Heroic Ballad" Arno Babajanyan was awarded the Stalin Prize. Aram Khachaturian recognized him as an outstanding symphonist.
