ArmInfo.Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vahram Dumanyan met with head of the EU Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry.
According to the source, during the meeting, Dumanyan mentioned the programs implemented in the field of education, science, culture, and youth with the support of the EU.
Referring to the recent war in Artsakh, the Minister said that as a result of the war, a significant part of the cultural heritage of Artsakh is now in immediate danger.
"At the moment, the preservation of these universal values is critical, and we expect that EU support will prevent any threat to these values," Dumanyan said, stressing that in the context of recent events, reforms in the education sector are a priority for the RA government as a guarantee of security countries.
According to Dumanyan, Armenia hopes for the EU's assistance in issues related to reforms in the education sector.
In turn, Andrea Wiktorin noted that the EU shares the problems facing Armenia. <2020 was a really tough year. COVID has taught us to continue to develop our digital capabilities. To this end, the European Union assisted the Ministry of Education and Science in organizing distance learning. The EU also shares concern over the cultural heritage of Artsakh, highly appreciating the activities of UNESCO in this matter, "the Ambassador said.
Andrea Wiktorin also mentioned ongoing inter-university cooperation programs such as Erasmus and Horizon 2020, citing them as good examples of cooperation. She said that the EU has begun the process of defining programs that will be planned for the next 7 years, stressing the need for their implementation with the Armenian government.
