ArmInfo.Foreign Minister Ara Aivazian received the ambassadors of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries in Armenia, Russian Ambassador Sergei Kopyrkin, French Ambassador Jonathan Lacote and US Ambassador Lynne Tracy. The press service of the Foreign Ministry reports.
According to the source, the agenda of the meeting included issues related to the post-war situation, regional security and peace in the zone of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The need to resume the peace negotiation process within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group was stressed. Armenian Foreign Minister Aivazian stressed the need to fully implement the basic principles of the settlement, stressing in this context the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination and security.
Minister Aivazian, presenting the process of establishing the ceasefire regime and the implementation of the November 9 statement on the deployment of peacekeepers in Artsakh, emphasized the priority of a complete and continuous solution of humanitarian issues, in particular, the return of prisoners of war and hostages.
The Minister and the Ambassadors exchanged views on the humanitarian situation in Artsakh and the steps taken to meet the needs of the Armenians of Artsakh. In this regard, the constant participation of international organizations, in particular the UN, is especially important. Minister Aivazian also drew the attention of the interlocutors to the urgency of taking measures to preserve the Armenian historical, cultural and religious heritage in the territories of Artsakh under the control of Azerbaijan, taking into account the efforts made by Azerbaijan to destroy the Armenian historical, cultural and religious heritage or distort its identity. The parties also exchanged views on a number of issues of mutual interest.
