ArmInfo.On January 19, Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to Armenia Michael Johannes Banzhaf.
According to the Ombudsman's office, during the meeting, Arman Tatoyan first of all raised issues related to the rights of Armenian servicemen and civilians in captivity in Azerbaijan and their immediate return. The defender informed the ambassador that after the hostilities, the Azerbaijani authorities artificially delay the exchange of bodies of the dead and the return of Armenian prisoners. During the meeting, the parties discussed human rights issues in Armenia in connection with the epidemic of the new coronavirus (COVID-19), as well as in the context of the current martial law. Joint programs have been implemented, especially in the field of protecting the rights of children, women and journalists. During the meeting, the parties discussed other issues related to the protection of human rights. In particular, the Human Rights Defender noted that the conceptual approaches of the German legal system underlie the development of the RA criminal procedure legislation. The parties agreed to deepen cooperation.
