ArmInfo. Scientific and research centers of Armenia will again receive the right to conduct examinations related to the illegal circulation of narcotic and psychotropic substances. At a plenary session on January 19, the Armenian parliament approved in the second and final reading the amendments to the law "On narcotic and psychotropic substances", as well as to the package of related laws.
According to the RA Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan, earlier by the law, research centers were given the right to carry out relevant reasons, but several years ago, for some unknown reason, this provision fell out of the law, which led to a number of problems. In particular, if necessary, the centers were no longer able to carry out research work related to narcotic and psychotropic substances, since they did not have legal powers. Now this right will be restored, but a prerequisite for this should be that research centers have an appropriate license, for which they will be required to pay a state fee.
