ArmInfo.Former military prosecutor of Armenia Gagik Dzhangiryan met with deputies from the ruling faction "My Step", following the results of the meeting, the faction will decide whether to nominate Jhangiryan for the post of a member of the Supreme Judicial Council.
As an ArmInfo correspondent reports, Jhangiryan noted that he was nominated to this position by representatives of the ruling faction. However, if elected to this position, he will not become a member of the political team. <I intend to pursue my professional activities. I do not know if Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is involved in this nomination. I do not interfere in internal discussions, "the lawyer said. To the remarks of journalists regarding the sensational Mataghist case, during which three servicemen were convicted for a long time, and Dzhangiryan was accused that the case was fabricated, he said: "If the case was fabricated, I would have been convicted back in 2008, when I was military prosecutor". Note that Dzhangiryan was released from the post of military prosecutor and deputy prosecutor general of Armenia in 2008. The fact is that at that time Dzhangiryan supported the first President of Armenia Levon Ter-Petrosyan in the presidential elections. After the events of March 1, 2008, Dzhangiryan was convicted of using violence against a police officer and was arrested, however, a year later he was released under an amnesty. To remind, as a result of clashes at opposition rallies following the 2008 presidential elections in Armenia, in which Serzh Sargsyan won de jure, 10 people died on March 1. The investigation into the case is still ongoing. Within the framework of the case on charges of overthrowing the constitutional order, the second president of Armenia, Robert Kocharian, and a number of high- ranking officials of that time are involved.
