ArmInfo. The Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov said that the further development of working relations between the prosecutors of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia meets the interests of the peoples of all three states and will contribute to strengthening stability in the Transcaucasian region. This was reported by the press service of the supervisory agency.
On January 12, bilateral and trilateral meetings of the Prosecutor General of Russia Igor Krasnov with the heads of the supervisory departments of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev and Armenia Artur Davtyan took place. According to Igor Krasnov, the meeting is acquiring a symbolic character in the light of the agreements that were reached the day before by the President of Russia and Azerbaijan, as well as the Prime Minister of Armenia at the negotiations on Nagorno-Karabakh. Krasnov also noted the special nature of relations between the prosecutor's offices of the three states, based on the good traditions of friendship and mutual respect. "We are successfully cooperating in a bilateral format, as well as at the platforms of international organizations: the UN, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Council of Europe, the Interstate Council on Combating Corruption, the International Association of Prosecutors," he said. On most issues, he believes, the positions coincide in the legal field. "Further development of the working relations of prosecutors meets the interests of the peoples of all three states and will contribute to the consolidation of stability in the Transcaucasian region",- said the Prosecutor General of Russia, expressing confidence that the constructive dialogue will continue to develop intensively. Prosecutors face common challenges in combating modern threats such as terrorism, corruption, cybercrime, environmental crimes, as well as ensuring the protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens. Krasnov is sure that not a single state is capable of fighting transnational crime alone - this requires the knowledge and efforts of every prosecutor. Krasnov expressed hope for more frequent personal contacts and said that he would be glad to see colleagues from Armenia and Azerbaijan in January next year in Moscow at the celebrations marking the 300th anniversary of the Russian prosecutor's office.
Meanwhile, as reported by the press service of the General Prosecutor's Office of Armenia, during the meeting, Artur Davtyan pointed out the need for the speedy implementation of the eighth paragraph of the trilateral statement signed on November 9, 2020, on the return of Armenian prisoners of war and other detainees in a short time and guaranteeing their life and health and other rights. The RA Prosecutor General stressed that the return of prisoners of war and civilians will be a possible guarantee of the implementation of other agreements reached in the trilateral statement. In this context, Artur Davtyan raised the issue of protecting the region from international terrorism and jointly combating it.
