ArmInfo. No complications are observed among people vaccinated with the Russian Sputnik V vaccine in Armenia. Deputy Director General of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the RA Ministry of Health, Head of the National Immunization Program Gayane Sahakyan stated this at a January 12 press conference.
According to her, 15 people have been vaccinated, including the Minister of Health, other specialists and Sahakyan herself. No complications after vaccination have been reported. Even the most common reaction is not observed - redness and local pain at the injection site. The first clinical trials of the Sputnik V vaccine showed that the first dose of its effectiveness was estimated at 91.4%, after the second - 94%. The vaccine mainly prevents mortality and severe clinical manifestations. "A person may be infected or have a mild clinical course, but this does not mean that the vaccine is ineffective," the specialist emphasized.
She added that it is planned to vaccinate 10% of the population of Armenia. Vaccines for risk groups will be received by the end of January. Negotiations are underway on Sputnik-V, Pfizer / BioNTech, Moderna and Astrazeneca vaccines, as their efficacy and safety have already been proven by research.
The expert stressed that currently in Armenia there is a relative stabilization of the situation with COVID- 19, there is a decrease in the incidence. However, taking into account the New Year holidays and the resumption of the educational process, some activation of the incidence is not excluded. According to Sahakyan, most often cases of coronavirus infection are recorded among persons aged 55-60 years. The mortality rate from infection is 1.8%. Gayane Sahakyan also noted that there are a large number of tests for coronavirus in Armenia, and there are no problems with this.
