ArmInfo. The General Prosecutor's Office of Armenia reports that the criminal case against former MP Levon Sargsyan, nicknamed "Alrakhatsi Lyovik", has been sent to court. According to the source, on the basis of the evidence received, Sargsyan was charged under Article 175 (Robbery, Ed. note) of the RA Criminal Code. According to the report of the investigating authority, in 2008 Sargsyan, together with his acquaintance A.K. and former police officer A.N. carried out a criminal attack on the house of former head of the Customs Committee Armen Avetisyan. As a result, Avetisyan was robbed for a total amount of about 45 million drams.
The former MP was arrested. A charge was also brought against his relative S.K.
The prosecutor approved the indictment and it was sent to the court. Before entering the General Prosecutor's Office, the case was handled by the National Security Service of Armenia.
To note, Sargsyan was on the wanted list for quite a long time and was caught in 2008 in Russia, in August of the same year, the former MP was taken to Armenia.
